Larry Balzer, M.D.
Board-certified family medicine physician, Larry Balzer, M.D., began his practice in Woodward in July 2010, backed by more than 30 years’ experience. He grew up in Hooker, Oklahoma on a farm/ranch operation and has lived and worked mostly in the Texas Panhandle. He and his wife Gaye Lynn were eager to move to Woodward to be closer to family, especially grandchildren.
Primarily focusing on the care of adults and older adults, Dr. Balzer has extensive experience in the treatment of diabetes and a special interest in diseases of the skin. He enjoys teaching and feels that patient education is an important part of his practice. A graduate of OU College of Medicine, he completed his residency in family practice at Scott Medical Center, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois and was chief resident from 1976 to 1977. He was a medical officer in the USAF for 6 years. He was president of the medical staff at Covenant Hospital-Plainview in Texas and Chairman of the family medicine department at Baptist-St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo for a number of years. Dr. Balzer is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He has a Certificate of Qualification in Geriatrics and is a member of the American Geriatrics Society.
Dr. Balzer is a multi-talented man. In addition to his passion for medicine and helping people, his wide variety of interests and hobbies includes astronomy, biblical studies, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing the guitar and banjo and photography. John Sutton, M.D.
John Sutton, M.D. was pleased to be able to return to practice in May 2010 after a year spent recovering from an illness that was eventually diagnosed as West Nile Virus. Dr. Sutton’s patients are also delighted he’s back in practice – after all, he’s taken care of people in Woodward for ___ years. A board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Sutton has his busy clinic practice and he serves as the medical director of both Mooreland Heritage Manor and Grace Living Center in Woodward.
A native of Hardtner, Kansas, Dr. Sutton received his medical degree from the OU College of Medicine and completed residency in internal medicine at the OU Health Sciences Center.
When not taking care of patients, Dr. Sutton enjoys his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and tending to his cattle. He is thankful for his friends and family and glad to be practicing medicine again. How does he sum it all up? “I feel blessed.”

LouAnn Martin, ARNP
LouAnn Martin, nurse practitioner, provides care to the entire family, from newborns to seniors. She coordinates patient care, providing diagnoses and treatment, and partnering with patients to stay on top of preventive healthcare needs in managing acute and chronic illnesses. Outside the clinic, LouAnn enjoys helping her husband on their farm/ranch operation near Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
She has a master’s of science degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas and a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
